PC Microphone: what are they used for?

 

A PC microphone can be used for a variety of things, for voice recognition software, such as dragon naturally speaking, for video conferences and lecturing. You can also use your PC microphone to record musical instruments or for singing. There are two ways the PC microphone works on your computer. The first way is by plugging it into your home computer via a USB plug. These microphones come with software to upload so that your computer with recognize the new device. If you ever lose your  microphone software, you’ll be able to find the download for it online; usually on the company’s website or sites that features several software programs for sale.

The second way is by plugging it into a jack-port in the back of your computer, usually next to wear you would plug in your computer speakers. Always be careful about plugging these in. It’s a common mistake for PC users to plug the microphone in the wrong jack due to access to the back of some computers being minimal.  Like the Microphone that connects to your computer by USB cord, you will need to upload your microphone software before you’re able to use it.

When using your microphone to record with, be sure to keep your mouth a few inches away from the microphone, otherwise you will cause distortion, this is also a common problem.

Be sure when shopping for a PC microphone that you find one with a long enough cord. Some PC microphones have cords that are barely over a foot long.

PC Microphone: where should you purchase one?

You can purchase a PC microphone just about anywhere these days. Department stores that have an electronics section are sure to carry one or two models. Electronics stores like Best Buy will also carry a few models. You can also purchase a PC Microphone online if you’re not satisfied with the models you find around town. There are several websites online that sell a variety of these mics. You can also check out sites like Amazon and the online auction eBay, both sell new and used models for more affordable prices.

It really doesn’t cost much for a PC microphone. Especially considering your computers soundcard does most of the work. You can get a good quality PC mic for around 20$-30$ in stores or online.
