Microphones for sale: where to find the best deals

There are many uses for microphones, whether it’s for business, home use, entertainment or serious music production. One of the confusing things about microphones does not know what kind you need for a specific application. If you’re a pro then you know what to look for, but most of us don’t have a solid idea about what requirements our microphones should have. Here we can discuss what to look for when trying to find a microphone for sale. Microphones for sale should be of high quality, durability and reliability. So read on to see what we can find.

Microphones for sale: what to look for

The microphones for sale you look at should be compatible with any other wireless components you intend to use them with, especially a wireless microphone system.

The microphones for sale should have a listing on the package of what type of system requirements there are.

There are a few different types of wireless technologies available, such as Bluetooth technology, radio, and infrared.

The mics for sale that use infrared are a line of sight technology, meaning you’ll need to keep the sensors visible to each other in order for your wireless microphone to work. This is the same technology used at home for your TV and TV remote; it’s how the two components communicate with each other.

The other commonly used technology you’ll find when looking for mics for sale is the radio technology. You can purchase one of the microphones for sale that features either UHF (ultra high frequency) or VHF (very high frequency).

UHF is considered to provide a better quality to operate on, featuring many more channels, giving you a less chance of interference from other wireless microphones operating at the same time although, UHF is considered to be much more expensive.

VHF operates on fewer channels which could increase your chances of interference, especially if there are more than four or five wireless electronics in the vicinity.

Microphones for sale: who has the best brands?

When you’re on the search for a microphone for sale, the wireless microphone manufacturers that  feature the best microphones for sale are from brands like AKG, Sony, Audio Technica, Shure, Bose, Sennheiser, Vocopro, Atlas, galaxy audio, Nady and gem, each of these brands features wireless microphone sales on their websites.

Cordless Microphone: finding the one that’s right for you

The cordless microphone has found a place in the home, on the stage and in our places of business. These electronic devices have a million uses and are designed to make any application they’re a part of more manageable for the user. Giving you more freedom to move around without the constraints of wires and long microphone cords, you can focus more on your performance of speech without the lingering concern of tripping over the cording at some point in your song and dance or presentation. Here we will discuss the benefits of the cordless microphone and how it can be of use to you, for whatever your intended use may be.

Cordless microphone: What type of model is right for you?

There is several style of the cordless microphone available. For those giving a live music performance, or even partaking in karaoke, these applications usually feature a handheld cordless microphone. For applications such as lectures, the user might use a lapel microphone or possibly a handheld.  Theater stage productions commonly use the lapel microphone, for its ability to be discreetly mounted under costumes and wigs.  If you aren’t certain about what type of technology is right for you, such as should you go with infrared or a radio technology, read further and I’; try to help your decision be a little easier to make.

Cordless microphone: what is the technology available?

The most common technologies used with cordless microphones are the infrared technology and radio technology. Infrared technology operates on line-of-sight. This means the user of the microphone will have to keep the sensor on the microphone visible to the receiver, so that they can communicate with each other.  The infrared technology is the same kin you can find in your home with any electronic piece of equipment that uses a remote control.  One sensor is located on the stereo; the other sensor is located on the remote. You can see the light blinking on the remote once you’re using it to change a station.   So the cordless microphone user would have to be aware of this during their speech or performance and this may cause some distress.

I recommend using the infrared technology more home based activities such as gaming or voice recognition software, even a home karaoke performance. When it comes to a public performance, it’s a safer bet to go with radio technology.

Radio technology has its up’s and downs, depending on the potential for interference. UHF offers a more minimal chance of interference, so if you’re putting on a production with five cordless microphones in the vicinity, operating with UHF will lessen your chances for interference.  If you’re using VHF, for big productions with five or more cordless microphones, there could be some interference issues. You get the idea.

Cordless microphone: Which brands carry the best lines?

Audio Technica and Shure have some of the most affordable cordless microphones that still provide you with high quality sound; AKG is another brand that you’ll want to check out, along with Logitech and Sennheiser. You can check out their products in most music equipment stores, like Guitar Center, or online straight from the manufacturer or other music equipment sites.

Karaoke Microphone

The karaoke microphone allows you to entertain within the comfort of your own home. Not only that but it also allows karaoke to become a family event and not just something designated to karaoke bars. The karaoke microphone is something that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Here will discuss the karaoke microphone and its many uses for entertainment, in or out of the house.

Karaoke microphone: home entertainment

Most people are familiar with the concept of karaoke, have seen or been to a karaoke bar or have participated in a karaoke party at a friends home. Karaoke is one of the most popular home entertainments for parties, BBQ’s or someone birthday.

When karaoke first started to become popular, people purchased home karaoke machines that featured a projector for the video, or connected to your TV.

Nowadays karaoke has been simplified for home use. Usually a karaoke DVD can be purchased and is used in conjunction with a karaoke microphone. Theses microphones can come as corded or wireless units. The Wireless karaoke microphone is the most popular because it enables the user to be able to move and dance around while performing, whereas the corded karaoke microphone can cause issues by the user getting tangled in the cord.

You can also use the microphones with most gaming consoles such as Wii, PS3 and XBOX. These gaming consoles feature karaoke games such as ROCKBAND.

One great choice when choosing a microphone for your gamin console is the 4-in-1 Karaoke microphone by Logitech. This karaoke microphone comes with a USB receiver, while the wireless microphone provides up to 30 feet range and is battery operated. This microphone is available online at Amazon.com for 16.00$

There are also karaoke microphones sold that use can use on your PC along with a karaoke music program.

Karaoke microphone: what’s out there?

Emerson features a handheld corded karaoke microphone, dual plug-in with a detachable cord online at Sears.com for 15.86$

The corded karaoke microphones are used in conjunction with the karaoke machine. The karaoke machine can be as small as an ipod and is handheld while some karaoke machines are tabletop or stand alone units.  Most karaoke machines have built-in audio mixer capabilities. An address system is also used when using a karaoke system.  A public address system is an electronic amplification system that consists of an amplifier, a mixer, and loud speakers to emphasize sounds that stem from prerecorded music.

Acesonic UHF-1100 10 channel wireless karaoke microphone is available in stores or online for 159.00$ this system is rated as a high quality unit and is in compliance with the new FCC frequency rules.  This model comes with easy infrared syncing that instantly matches your microphone and receiver channel and features an easy set-up process.

Vocopro offers a portable unit enabling you to turn your portable DVD player, iPod or entertainment system into a karaoke machine. It comes with software, two wireless karaoke microphones and wireless receiver for 179.99.

If you need a more professional set-up for a public function, Vocopro’s UHF-5800 professional four channel wireless karaoke microphone system for 359.99 this is more of the type of set up seen in karaoke bars rather than home use. This karaoke microphone system is also sold online at Amazon.com, used for 259$.

Vocopro also offers a gold handheld karaoke microphone, the MK58 online at Amazon.com for 59.99$ new.

Vocopro also features a corded karaoke microphone with the easy plug and pluy features, plus software for just under a hundred dollars online.

Karaoke microphone: should you buy one?

The karaoke microphones mentioned are used for both personal and professional use. I wouldn’t purchase a more expensive unit for the purpose of entertaining house guests.  You can purchase a good high quality sounding karaoke microphone online for around 60$. If you’re wanting to purchase the newer karaoke machines that are available, their prices range from 50$ for the old outdated models and 159$-250$ for the newly updated version.

The karaoke machine can be fun to have, but you’ll have just as much fun purchasing a karaoke CD or DVD.

Karaoke is one of the most popular sources of entertainment, it is also one of the most affordable.

Wireless Microphones:For work and play

Wireless microphones have taken over the music industry, giving the performers and musicians to dance and move about freely without the worry of tripping over cords, or having the cords get tangled, thus potentially damaging the cords. We see wireless microphones in the home and office these days as well as lecture halls, churches, gyms and theater. They’re everywhere. Read on to find out more information about the wireless microphone to see if it’s right for you.

Wireless Microphones/wireless Mics: why they’re used

There are a couple of different types of wireless microphones, the handheld and the hands free.   The hands free microphone is commonly referred to as the lapel microphone because it attached to the color of a shirt. These microphones are very small and discreet looking. You can see these microphones in use when you watch the evening news or an interview. These wireless mics are also used in live stage productions and are cleverly concealed under costumes or even wigs. The lapel microphone can be used for home and office use as well as PC use.

WIreless Microphones

The handheld microphone is commonly seen on stage during live music productions or at karaoke bars, at churches during services, lecture halls, on the news, during interview and at several live events. The handheld wireless microphone can also be used at home for gaming use with such games as ROCKBAND. These wireless mics can also be used when entering at home and using your own karaoke system. For these electronics the possibilities are endless.

Entertainers that use the wireless microphones have to pay attention to the parameters of the wireless microphones receiver if their systems are operating on a radio frequency system. There is typically a 300-600 foot range with the wireless microphones, stepping outside of the parameters can cause your microphone to fail.

Wireless microphones/wireless mic: how they work:

These wireless microphones operate on an infrared system or on a radio frequency. When using a wireless microphone system, you have to be sure to keep the microphone in the line of site of the receiver, otherwise the signal gets blocked and your microphone won’t work.  The infrared systems don’t offer much range, only about 30-60feet, depending on which model you purchase. The infrared wireless microphone would be more ideal for activities like home karaoke, or gaming.

The wireless microphones that operate on a radio frequency have a range of 300-600 feet.  There are two types of frequencies to choose from when using a radio frequency system. There is UHF or VHF. Uhf is more expensive, but offers more channels to operate on which minimizes your chance of interference from close by appliances like baby monitors or cordless phones.

wireless microphone image

Wireless Microphones

VHF offers fewer channels meaning your chances for picking up interference are increased especially if you’re using multiple wireless microphones or wireless microphone systems, but they’re much cheaper.

You’ll use your wireless microphones in conjunction with a wireless microphone system. This system is comprised of a receiver and a transmitter.   When using a wireless microphone you’ll wear a body pack transmitter that will convert the audio signal into a radio signal and broadcasts it through an antenna. The antenna will stick out of the bottom of the transmitter or it may be built inside the wireless microphone. The strength of the radio signal is limited by government regulated. The distance that the signal can effectively travel ranges from 100 feet to over 1,000 feet, depending on if you’re using UHF or VHF.

Because UHF can run from 300-12,00 depending on the wireless microphone system, if you’re going to use the wireless mic for personal purposes or small productions, with fewer than five other wireless components, it’s much more cost effective for you to purchase a VHF model.

If you’re going to be using more than five wireless components, minimize your risk of the other wireless microphones getting their interference crossed and purchase a UHF system.

Wireless microphones/wireless mic: do you need one?

Wireless microphones are all over the place, which helps to make them more affordable.  You can purchase a good quality sound VHF wireless mic from 40$-60$. It really depends on the type of application you intend to use it for.

You can also find deals online at places like guitarcenter.com. Guitar center sells both new and used equipment. Amazon.com is also a good place to look.

Headset Microphone: and the people who love them

Headset microphones are used in several applications, be it business, personal use or pleasure.  In this article you’ll learn more about how the headset microphone plays a part in all of these applications, how they work and where you can get one for yourself.

Headset microphone: Who uses them

If you’ve ever been to a live music performance, you may have seen someone using a headset microphone. These are often times used in place of a lapel microphone, and used in everyday places like aerobics instructors at the gym.   The headset microphone can offer the performer a cleaner and freer look, if they don’t want to use a hand held microphone or have a microphone clipped to their person, these models can even been seen in stage productions.  The headset microphone is also used by business professionals, during meetings or while using their PC. You can use a headset microphone for voice over internet protocol applications like SKYPE.  You can also use one of these microphones for business applications such as dragon naturally speaking.

The headset microphone is also used for PC online gaming and with gaming consoles such as Wii, PS3 and XBOX live applications.

Headset microphone: How they work

The headset microphones can come in one or two ear models with several different styles to choose from such as: in-the-ear, behind-the-neck and over-the-ear.

When in use with a personal computer, they will connect via USB cable. For other applications, there are a few different types of wireless technologies that enable your device.

The first technology is infrared. These are used in conjunction with a receiver and are considered to be called line-of-sight technology, meaning you’ll need to keep the sensor located on your microphone headset visible to the receiver so it is able to receive the signal. This is exactly like the technology used with TV remote controls. If someone is standing in front of the TV they’re blocking the sensor and you’re unable to change the channel.

The next technology is the all famous Bluetooth technology. These operate on a low radio frequency that transmits sound to your built-in transmitter, located in the headset.

The last technology used is the most common. This is a wireless system that operates on radio frequencies. Similar to that of Bluetooth technology, except radio uses a stronger signal.  The radio frequency uses 900MHZ and transmits around 30-40 feet giving you more range than Bluetooth or infrared.  Radio frequency isn’t a line of site technology, you’ll just have to be aware of wear the receiver is located and stay within the 30-40 feet range. When using the radio frequency, you’ll need to use a transmitter that’s plugged into the headphone socket of the source.

Headset microphone: where can you get them: you can get a headset microphone at most electronic stores or stores that sell musical equipment? You can find good prices for a pair online at several different websites such as Guitarcenter.com and Amazon. Guitar center sells both new and used pairs as does Amazon, giving you the option of finding the most affordable price. You can also go on eBay and bid on a pair for a reasonable price.

Headset Microphone: who has the best model?

Logitech features the USB microphone headset H390 that is a high quality noise cancelling headset for PC use.

Rode HSb1 also offers quality sound with a sleek design thats minimal and discreet appearance while featuring a light weight frame.  There is also a left, right frame configuration, with a dynamic range of 85DB, with its connector system offer a large range of compatibility with other equipment

The Shure WH20QTR headset microphone is a lightweight dynamic headset that provides high quality voice pickup and noise canceling features.  This headset also offers a cardoid pick-up pattern that provides greater gain before feedback.

There are several models to choose from with prices ranging from 20$ for starter headphones, to 500$ for professional musician use. You should base what kind you get on what application you intend to use the headset microphone for. For gaming system and PC use, you can find a good quality headset microphone for just under 60$. For the high quality models, you can go online to the manufacturer’s website to price shop and find any available promotions.
